The legal situation
In Ireland, the directive was transposed by the European Union (Distance Contracts for Financial Services) Regulations 2026 (S.I. No. 309 of 2026).
Across the EU, Directive (EU) 2023/2673 requires an electronic withdrawal function for consumer contracts concluded online (applicable from 19 June 2026).
